to me it this singing has an an idyllic influence/impression, and this is very-very-very rare and substantial/valuable. I love-love -love Amy, as much as Katie, Amy has a smashing HEART:)
Joaparis. i agree with you, absolutely. the music help us to understand, to feel, to love.:)

sorry for my english!

is music all about technique? all about feeling?
personally I think we live in a demanding technique world... but I am so glad feeling comes to change our mood, our ideas, our deepness. So I prefer kate to celine or amy

Time to find out, perhaps, whether anybody else has recorded the song? :)

yeah i am, talking about the song and not her. the melody is very touching. i would have enjoyed listening to celine dion singing it.. would have liked comparing, and noticing the modifications she would have made.

If you're talking about the song, not her - then I agree with you! It's a great song, lovely melody, beautiful lyrics. I just wish someone else was singing it!

i asked because i was interested, not implying by my question that she was good, or even bad for that matter. so don't assume that im blinded by her looks, because im not a fan of her, just this song.

Yes she sings with feeling but you need more than that to deserve the accolade 'prodigy' -otherwise you make the word meaningless, or it change its meaning altogether. Prodigy means prodigious talent - immense skill PLUS immense feeling - you need both - from a very young age. She has the feeling but not the immense skill therefore she doesn't qualify, end of story.

I'm not a massive fan of any of the current crop but voicewise I think Amy Winehouse and Adele knock spots off Katie Melua - there's no comparison. Listen closely to the way Melua sings 'sleep' (0.44)and 'deep'(0.57)- her voice just doesn't hack it. And at 1.46: 'being close to you' - she's out of tune! She just isn't good enough to deserve the stardom and adulation. If you can't hear it, listen harder - or maybe you're just blinded by her looks. She didn't write the song, you know!

who would you say is the best female singer?
