Comparison Test: 2007 BMW 335i vs. 2008 Infiniti G37

Back

After driving the 2007 BMW 335i and 2008 Infiniti G37 Sport, we wonder if the people who built them thought about anything besides going fast.

Between the twin turbochargers nesting on the 335i's inline six-cylinder and the large-displacement V6 that gives the G37 its name, we're waist-deep in a level of engine might that recalls an E46 BMW M3 — and we've scarcely passed the $40,000 price barrier.

Can we all get our brand bias off the table and stop talking smack for a moment?

Can we all agree that the BMW is a marginally better car? okay. Now, can we also agree that the Infiniti has some distinct advantages and also presents a much better value in terms of cost? Good.

When it comes down to it, these cars are almost identical. The differences are negligible. If you have the cash, get the BMW. But the Infiniti is an amazing value and pretty much the same. Very good cars, both of them.

The Infinti is a great car, but where I live, a 300 hp RWD car is a good way to not drive from November to March, and Infiniti doesn't offer an AWD sedan with a manual. The BMW 335i is available with AWD and a stick.

So you are saying that BMW invinted everything & other manufacturers are just waiting to see what BMW are going to do to copy it?!?! That doesn't make ANY sense... Was BMW the 1st one to use ABS, automatic tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel with SRS airbag, night vision, 7-speed transmission or 8-speed transmission?!? I don't think so...

that was Mercedes that did those things.

Well, not all of them... Check your information... Anywayz, The point is that BMW is not the only one who invinte stuff... keep that in mind...

It's not about who invents new driving, it making a driver's car that gives the best driving experience. For the past 40 years, BMW has been setting benchmarks that others set out to match or beat. Other car companies many come with new technologies for their cars but BMW keeps hitting the marks that driving enthusiasts desire...within a certain price range.

I agree with you... But inventions in cars is as important as increasing driving experience or even more... You don't want a car that is fun to drive but has no technology or modern features & I believe that the buyers who look for features in their cars are more than the buyers who want a car that's fun to drive... Anyway, the statement "BMW 4 life....everything else just a copy" is just an ignorant statement...

Gotcha. I our friend has pursuing and setting bench marks confused with imitating the next car maker. LOL.

I was saying to some idiot that was saying the BMW has an advantage because it has turbos by saying that the BMW is only 3,000CC instead of the Infiniti's 3,700CC lol...
