Yes, I would be incredibly sad if anyone killed one of my dogs. But of course I would be happy at the same time that it wasn't my mom or sister.
I do love my dogs as family members.I'm not ashamed of that. I've growed up with one of them since I was about five years old. Every time I'm sad, he will do anything to make me smile. He would jump in between me and death. We have shared parents divorcing, moving between two homes and done a lot of stuff together. Yes, I love him as a family member.

first of all you said it your self "you would be happy that it wasn't your mom or sister". Second of all I'm not too sure the dog would jump between you and death, that's just something you think because you may be stupid enough to actually do it for one of your dogs. And they didn't choose to share all your problems, they were forced into them. All you are doing for them is making them parasites instead of self sustaining animals... you should be ashamed of your self.

Yes, of course I woukd be happy that it wasn't my mom, dad or sister! If I were to choose between my dogs and one of them, I would take the humans. Not because I love my dogs less, but because they don't have the life time or th possibilites that, say, my sister has.
No, I would not jump in between death and one of my dogs. And it hurts because I know that they'd do it for me.
Were you forced into sharing your familys problem? Does that make you care less?
MandaOwl (January 6, 2009 at 3:54 am)
I am not ashamed of myself. I do know that they have to be dogs and not humans in order to feel good.
But I don't think you know what it's like when you don't have anyone else to turn to, when you don't have friends and you don't want to share your problems with your family. When they become what you don't have. And that doesn't make them parasites. That makes them friends.

Sure i understand, i've seen it before in "Cast away" exept instead of dog it was Willson.. because thats as much as your dog understands your problems hahahaha
Oh and there is no proof that your dog would jump between you and death (but i think i said that before) did you know that they were cases in which people died and their dogs started eating them because they were the only source of food in the house... I'm not saying that dogs are bad, but that they are just pets, and not that important

You clearly have no sense for either understanding dogs, or the bonds between animals and humans. I feel sorry for you. It's sad that not everyone has had that experience, because it makes your life so much richer.
Maybe my dogs don't understand my problems, but it doesn't mean they're not helping me feel better about them.
And yes, dogs are just pets, but how important they are is up to the owner, don't you think?
RickCoppola (January 7, 2009 at 7:10 pm)
well i understand that a dog can be good for playing with it, and maybe a bit of sharing, but you are forgeting my point! there is no way it is a good idea to risk your life for it, and its obious that most(if not all) of them wont do it for you. If you are sad enough to think of them as family or as friends (since you seem to have none) is another much different thing...
MandaOwl (January 8, 2009 at 2:53 am)
Playing and sharing? You think that's all you do with a dog..? It's sad that some people will never understand what it's like being perfectly synchronised with an animal.
I'm not saying it's a good idea to risk your life, I'm saying that I understand how someone could be willing to do it. And no, a lot of dogs probably wouldn't sacrifice themselves for their owners, but I know dogs that absolutely would, too.
No, it's not a different thing, cos it may be the reason to why he did it.
