Jaguar v Germany Dust-up: XF v BMW 550i v MB E550 v Audi A6

Back

We regret to inform you that the era of the V8-powered midsize luxury sport sedan could be over. Gas prices aren't the problem; instead, it's the impending federal fuel-economy standards that could spell the end of these luxurious street sleepers.

So this meeting of the 2008 Audi A6 4.2, 2008 BMW 550i, 2009 Jaguar XF Supercharged and 2008 Mercedes-Benz E550 might represent the end of an era.

Under the new rules, shoving big V8s into midsize sedans will become a questionable prospect even for luxury brands. Without massive price increases, only the most expensive flagship models will be able to offer thirsty eight-cylinder engines, leaving the smaller sedans to get by with six cylinders or worse.

With that prospect looming, we figured a comparison of the current crop of V8 midsize European luxury sedans was in order. They may not have much of a future, but they offer some of the best combinations of luxury, prestige and completely unnecessary horsepower you can get — for now.

Hehe, I prefer CAR OF THE YEAR. As an entire package, than engine of the year!!! (Fitted into an ugly boxy body made by nazis, liked by haters.)

BMW's are standard utterly ugly peices of dogshit. Overrated shit. "God, what a boring standard company car" Compared to Jaguar. Which is a beautiful prestige Marque. They have cutting edge technology in their vehicles, distingtive design and loads of interior toys to play with. And I hope this supercharges your hate towards Jaguar, just like Jaguar will supercharge their 5 litre V8 with 500hp, up BMW's fat overrated anus. Now please, fuck off.

Like it or not this is the first Jag ever to beat the BMW in this class. Otherwise the BMW's are way better in everything!!! Everything exept style ( everybody has its own taste and I respect that ) The previous Jag wud not even get close to any of the three: Merc, Audi or BMW. And yes "body made by nazis", all the British manufactureres owned by different countries, even English pride Rolls - Royce owned by Germans ( BMW ). So fuck of with you so called 'British' Jaguar.

You ruined Rolls Royce, you turned it into an ugly gas guzzling tiger tank. The previous Jag was awesome, I have one. And it's damn great. I don't see why it doesn't obliterate the competition all together. Aston Martin is owned by Prodrive, a British automobile manufacturer and is BUILT in Britain. The Jaguars are also built in Britain and are only FINANCED by Tata, something Ford didn't do. Expect some really good cars from Jaguar soon.

Why do u say you ruined Rolls Royce? I'm not German... And Royce's was always using o lot fuel... It is impossible to have a car of this size and class with low fuel comsuption. Of course you can put a smaller engine into it, but u wud have to rev it hard just to move from standstill. Acceleration wud be bad. People who buy those cars expect 100% comfort, the best any car can offer. I'm not saying Jags are bad, i'm saying in general ( style is a matter of taste ) german cars better.

Well it wins in this test either way.

Since when did BMW win a car beauty award. Engine award, that's all BMW can win. They should pwn "Cars in which have looked the same for the last 4 years"
