The AMVApp.exe makes it easy. It should install VirtualDub Mod, AviSynth, and bunch of different filters.

Visit their site and guide for more indepth tutorial on how to make your video prettier - but for our purposes - the raw is almost always "good enough" for the general public and there's nothing more you need to do.

Ok. I'll try to be simple with this. When getting the AC3 file from DGIndex, it sould say something like anime_DELAY -110ms.ac3 or something like that. The DELAY (negative or positive) number it gives you is the offset (sync) value. You open virtualdubmod, go to your streams list, right click the audio stream and hit "Interleaving". Then put the negative or positive number the title gives you in the offset box. Then the audio will be properly synced! (Or should be) Hope this helps!

I understand what you mean. This might sound stupid but with DGIndex how do you load int he episode to get the file? I searched tot he folder where the episode in question is stored and it said the location was empty.

DGIndex loads VOB files. My suggestion to you is that if it is indeed a VOB file, to drag and drop it into the program. Cheers!

The subfile in question is an ass file but if i open it in aegis and resave it as vob it should work right?

OHH!!! DGIndex is for VOBs only. Ass files are to be muxed in either with the Avisynth script or the Textsub filter on Virtualdub. Saving the file as a VOB will do you no good. What you need to do is offset the audio from the AVI raw. Not the subs :P

Ah I see!! Would changing the framerate of the video work for that, I tried something like that but it only seemed to speed up the video. Sorry for the bugging questions, I just been getting miffed at vdub on this one. Its supposed to be my fansub group's first release.
