Flying and the environment -- the EU leads the way

Back

More information:
Flying is something we take for granted but all those business trips and holidays are contributing to global warming. This film looks at the new laws being put forward by the EU to cut the amount of CO2 produced by air travel and hears what scientists and those involved in the flying business have to say.

The EU is hypocritical. European Commission and European Parliament officials fly all the time. The Strasbourg-Brussels commute creates more carbon than some small countries

If your in pain and needing relief you must go through THOUSANDS of dollars of tests and diagnosed before your prescribed to, by that time your freaking homeless. And if you have no insurance you pay more then if you had any, the whole reason people dont have it is because they cant afford it, it competes with your damn mortgage payment

In 2012 TGV will run at 360km/h (225mph) and Siemens/Bombardier ICE is already running at 350km/h. If you take a look to the projects in EU the rail grid is under construction.. but it can't be made in 1 month.
Anyway air traffic can't be replaced for long distance or trans-oceanic flights (EU-USA-Asia-Australia-Africa). The A380 will be stretched for 1000pax and bigger versions are possible. This will increase efficency. Boeing will certainly do something on its own. Things are going on ;-)

I've seen the movie, one proffesor from my university recommended it to the students. It's amazing!

Amen and Amen, for years I have tried to explain to my head-in-the-sand friends that we aren't just trying to save the planet, we are ultimately trying to save ourselves. It is critically important not to wait for governments to get behind it, it is the individuals. Ride a bus, start a compost bin, buy used, buy less.
