eh the extraction tool isn't that great. I prefer using layer masks and channels.

hey he made the video to show how to use the tool, he has another video on the pen tool but since most of his vids are explaining the usage of the tools he's going through each one

its sort of ironic how the imaged you used was probably photoshopped (the guy onto the city background)

this filter is the best for difficult selections like hair and it can be good for really intense objects. i do like the pen tool better but when doing something like hair its a lot easier to whip up the extract filter.
