if fish can't see water, then just ask your self what is holding you?do you think that it is you own power or is it the power given to you by the one who is really in charge.

10 years of globalization and guest workers have destroyed America's economy, as we are now seeing. So much for that failed theory.... globalization is good for China and India, not for America.

The reason we are falling apart is because we are still trying to control the economy with restrictions instead of letting it do its job. International companies would not build a factory in the US because they would have to meet too many ridiculous standards and quotas. Small businesses are snuffed out for the same reason. It costs approx. $200,000 to get a cab driver's license in NY. How is a person supposed to work with that? Wealth is unlimited. We could all prosper if we break down barriers

No, we are falling apart because China is sucking $200 billion a year out of us through trade deficits and currency manipulation that keeps their products cheaper in our markets.

Go look at the regulation in Japan - it's very heavy and you can eat off a factory floor in Japan it's so clean. Japan is heavily regulated and protectionist and they've got $14 tril. i the bank.

Free Trade is a communist ideology. Do your research and find out.

How can free trade-where the money one makes is in direct correlation to how hard they work in an environment of liberty-be communistic? The cream always rises to the top. I agree that we must export as much as we import, but that's a problem not because China is too good; it's b/c we aren't appealing to co's anymore. We must strengthen our dollar and loosen restrictions to invite co's to set up here again. You say that China's products are cheaper and that hurts us...end pt.1
Apmhflick (October 27, 2008 at 8:49 am)
Pt.2 But what would you do about it? Tariffs will only raise prices for consumers and protect industries that can't compete. Without tariffs, Americans would have more money after buying foreign goods to spend on native goods and bolster our industries. Japan, btw, ranks 12th on the Ease of Doing Business Index. That means that private business-which makes up an overwhelming majority of Japan's market only has more gov't regulations than 11 other countries in the whole world. End pt.2

Pt.3 Historically (and this holds true like clockwork), the cities countries with the most freedom make the most money. Hong Kong was the richest city a few years ago and wouldn't you know it, it ranked in the top 3 of freest cities.

*"cities AND countries"

Yes, I want a $100 mouse. First of all, I don't know where these figures come from that goods would be more expensive if made in USA.

Funny, but before globalization, prices were high, Americans' salaries were high, and everyone in USA was prospering.

Now that we all want cheap goods, America is going bankrupt.

Cheap goods are not good for you if, in the process, you ship all your jobs and wealth out of the country.
