Reread some history. The 54th did not volunteer.

The south lost the Civil War at Gettysburg simply because the North developed automatic weapons. Up until Gettysburg the South was winning.

the real reason is because the south felt they had no power against a single minded north which at the time was true. Therefore the south did what they felt was right in the social contract and rebelled eventually seceding from the Union. The Republicans were NOT as previously thought anti-slavery. they just wanted to stop the spread of slavery in southern states. Sympathy for abolitionists came in during the war and the North were originally fighting to preserve the Union.

yes it happened, and if you knew anything about war then you would know why. to their left is the sea, to their right is swamp land, which only leaves a narrow strip of beach land. they cant just send out an unorganized party of men running through, so they sent one regiment at a time, and the 54th voulnteered to be the first.

why would they send 1 isolated regiment to assault a fortification like that? did this happen for real?

The way I see it, Republicans are still anti-slavery. Think about how many people are dependant on government (welfare, etc) that live in impoverished areas that live in Demodrat districts? Isn't that a form of slavery?

I live where these brave men fought. And I have studied the civil war. The war was not over slavery in the least. Yet some people get their mis-information and beliefs from others who are just as uneducated as to the history of this war.

If a person wants the real truth, then they need to do their own research like you have.

I'm a staunch Republican, but look at how far our country has come in 200 years. IT'S AMAZING. A black president is hard to swallow for many people, but my gosh look at what our country has accomplished in our short history. Those European faggots have been around for a centuries upon centuries and all they've done is host a few sub-par olypmics.

It's kinda strange...the Republicans were the key anti-slavery party back then that made the difference, and all the rich slave owners in the south were democrats...now everything has flipped...alot of people dont realize the history there
