Logan's Run 1976

York plays Logan, a man with a problem: He's a 29-year-old bounty hunter who collects the people who didn't submit to state mandated euthanasia when they hit the age of 30 -- and tomorrow is his birthday. Large futuristic sets, great special effects and Ustinov highlight this episodic, intriguing vision of the near future.

The first voice over lines are perfect for an Iphone ad. Even Steve Jobs used to say in the early days of the Iphone campaign "this phone was "pretty much like a Star Trek gizmo".

Strange premonitions...

Historically, it suffers in comparison . . . given that it was released in 1976 (and Star Wars was released in 1977) . . . but it won the Oscar for best special effects in 1976 and was the first film to ever use holograms.

IMO . . . it is more in the class of future-dystopia sci-fi films like The Omega Man, Rollerball, Soylent Green and Silent Running . . . and is much more of a "message" film than Star Wars ever even *tried* to be.

Because this way can society controlled by citizens, otherwise too much people would live in these dom-cities, which are computer-controlled and can support only a limited number of people

This movie has nudity and is rated PG. That surprises me. You can even see a nude woman frozen behind them in one scene of this trailer. Boy things were so loose back then. Anyway, great classic!
