look at the safety areas!! there was no safety areas at track like monza wouw.. and there was threes next to the track on ascari chicane..amazing-

Totally right, and instead of wheel-barriers were... henhouse's nets! Incredible how the drivers raced in that kind of safety conditions.

I get this comment all the time, and IMO, it's because of two things. The equipment sucked compared to today's standards, thus the cars are much harder to drive on the limit. This also contributes to the 2nd fact, that the cars were less safe. I personally think that racing today is more entertaining, because drivers are more aggressive and can work the cars better. It more so than anything depends on the form of racing we're talking about, but these here are hard to beat.

every time i watch one of these retro vids, i feel like im in the car....it looked like more fun to do back then, not that it doesnt look fun today

I did see these F1 cars through the 50's, until modern day, racing up to 20 years ago was very exciting.
