Zion is also a Matrix(simulated reality), because Neo sees everything in gold code (matrix revolutions), so he gave his life to save Zion and at least bring peace to that Matrix(where is Zion). Such a great movie...

if you are in the least bit interested in eastern mysticism and philosophy you'd see that this movie is full of it, despite the fact that such an angle of vision in a movie like this may come off as pretentious
