Storm Launcher Modifications by Dave

Back

Modifications demonstrated here by Dave are for advanced fliers and certainly increase the maneuverability, control, and flight times of the
Storm Launcher flying boat. Enjoy.
EDIT: I Can't seem to comment back so here is the answer to the battery question. What is it that is different from the mods in the video, Catie 17?
The battery is a 7.4V, 2 cell, 780MA, LiPo (Lithium Ion) from Tanic packs.

Here is the link to my latest video showing major modifications, rudders, wings and flying..

The minis are cheap and don't have the plastic rings. I cut them off mine, as it says you can do for more performance on the big one. Lots were on sale, because many of us bought extra batteries an chargers, so there were none on the shelves and nobody would buy them. SO they lowed the price. They are no longer available anyway.

Where did you buy your stormlauncher? I have looked in many places and some are shown without the black plastic on the front(on the bottom). Is that the same model or is it different? And why is there a huge diference in the price? It's like 17.99 without the black plastic and in the 70's with it.

umm do you guys know why they didn't include the battery pack? and how long does it last? thanks :)

It had something to do with keeping a price under $100. With the battery your over. The battery runs about 10 solid minutes, but if it quits, it cannot be steered or even glided in.

Hello dave.
I was just wondering if the storm launcher would work if I put different propelors on it because the regular ones just keep flying of.
thank you.
I know its not a good question but the only hobby shop I can go to is realy far so I am just making sure .
thanks again.

I think the stock propellers are best. they have to be tapped on with a small hammer while you hold the motor. Once the come off, they dont go back on and stay. Go to Spinmaster(.)com and look for a dealer near you and get the right ones. They are special for that SL.

This is probably just a shot in the dark but what if you cut of the top horizontal stabilizer then put a push rod or something in the middle so it pivits. then hook up a servo to it so the lower and upper stabilizer work. do you think that would work instead of just cutting it off and throwing it away. you should try it maby. i would buy i don't have the money. lol.

Good thinking. That would work just like the upper and lower ailerons on my Pitts Biplane.
But the SLs are way too sensitive for most anyway, and it is easily stalled. This would make it worse. Throw it away or make a very small airplane wing out of it.
