Dave Douglas & Keystone - MOONSHINE

Back

This is an unfinished fragment made in May 1918 by Roscoe Arbuckle and Buster Keaton. I liked the stillness of the landscape, and how it contrasts with the frenetic performances of Keaton, Arbuckle, Al St. John and Alice Lake. I'm always a sucker for a good gag, and this film seems to move from one to the next without overmuch concern for plot. For the sake of useless trivia this seems to be the first film to pack twenty people into a late model car, only to send them off into the woods. It's a fun watch. -Dave Douglas

On my site is the link for it on favorites. This very funny film, especially when Al St John and Buster play like they where apes. Or when Buster is put on the tree to dry after washing in the river. But the quality of the film is bad on You Tube but still funny.

The full film is now available on You Tube and it runs 23 minutes!

I had other music on for this (I leave it on because some silent movies here don't even have the original soundtrack) and I turned it off once I heard this music. Very fitting, it has that silent movie film charm to it yet it's certainly modern.

Why is there a "DJ Olive" tag on this?
jimtuerk (November 18, 2007 at 1:12 am)
DJ Olive is in the band.

They are the originals, and I agree that they are strange. It's an unfinished film, so the plot doesn't really make a whole lot of sense. That's kind of the charm of it, though.

Are these the original titles in this film? For some reason they seem strange to me.
