Hahaha... that was awesome. She doesn't have fluidity throughout 100%, but I love the integration of a new genre to a stuffy setting. HOT spiral sequence, unusual combination spin, VERY nice Triple Salchow late in an SP.

Heh, I don't even think the judges know how difficult hip-hop isolations are. Even Peggy Fleming is like I enjoy the movements... because they're umm.... I think the costume is great! This deserves at least an 8.5, if not a 9, for choreography and interpretation.

i dont know anything about ice skating dance competition but all i can say is she's got great footwork and showed everyone on that nite the equation of hip hop and ballet...

I like this girl. FANTASTIC!!! She really did the out-of-the-box thing... Nice B-R-E-A-K-D-A-N-C-E moves, Stef... But i love the music, Rock It by Herbie Hancock!

Stephanie brought down the house & was the hit of Nationals. Although she did not medal, she was asked to repise skate "Rockit" in the closing exhibition -- a huge honor. The fact that this is the short program with numerous *required* elements that HAD to be skated, & how well she incorporated them, makes her program even more outstanding.

Super originality, technical ability, & the joy of skating = PURE WIN.

People say the new system discourages originality, but Stephanie proved that it's not the system - most skaters are just too chicken to come up with new stuff and actually attempt it in competition.

I don't think hip hop works with skating. You try it. And let me know if it does. Figure skating is more about free form and fluid artistry. Certain music like country and pop do work with figure skating. To me, hip hop is more like dancing on the dance floor. Also heavy metal doesn't work either.
