those are not spark plugs, those are electronical, very high performance, ignition parts, those help engine to get start when it is cold.

Top Gear reviews are 100% bullshit.

Ha Ha,I can't believe all these comments arguing about what type of engine this is. Listen boys, IT IS A COMPRESSION IGNITION DIESEL ENGINE.
It has NO sparkplugs for Gods sake. Those of you who have tried to argue this fact (well done), and the others, please accept the advice of those who know.
If you don't believe how much heat is generated by compressed air on its own, try holding a finger over a bicycle pump & try to stop the air coming out without burning your pinky! End of rant!Nice vid

however they do have glow plugs which is what was shown in the video.

Sorry maty, the silver proby thing in the middle of the valves is the fuel injector. You can see it firing the atomized derv through its nozzle holes at 0.46 sec's then being ignited by the compressed air within the cylinder. Yes Diesel engines can have glow plugs, but only to aid cold starting. They are electrically turned off a few seconds after the start secuence and not needed due to the thermal running of the engine.(not shown).

oh right lol at first to me it looked like it was a spark, but i find it wierd how it injects the fuel as its almost at the top of the cylinder

everyone gave kenfo0 a bad rating when what he's saying is completely true. the animation is a COMPLETE waste of time becuase it is supposed to be on the subaru diesel, which after viewing is of the standard gasoline subaru engine. So all the people who gave him a bad rating are blatently stupid and pay no attention to blatent inconsitincies within the content of the video and it's name.
SupraCelica98 (November 27, 2008 at 9:21 pm)
the part where diesels run off compression.
