Variety reported that The Montel Williams Show has been cancelled just 3 days after appearing on Fox and Friends. I hope it is not because he supported the troops. In any case please join this campaign to get him back on the air. Please sign the petition at
Jan/26/08 08:41 ET Montel Williams turned the question on live television when he choose to focus on the solders dying in Iraq rather than the passing of Heath Ledger. Montel did not return for a further segment.

Montel is absolutely spot on with his point and perspective.

The name? When did it become so important to discuss every single soldier (who chose to join the military on their own free will) that dies. It's war people. People die in war. They are soldiers and it's their job. It is their choice and I do not feel for them. If you want to make money off of killing others and putting your life in risk that's your choice. They are not protecting you from anything. They are protecting corporate profit and it's sick. btw. This is not a war. It's an occupation.

GIBSON: My complaint about this is what youre listening to when you hear that guy lecture the audience, is youre listening to news-guy snobbery. Essentially saying, Im better than you. Im too high class for that story. I wont stoop to what you want to hear about.

to this I say No, Mr Gibson. You get it wrong. The news is SUPPOSED to tell us IMPORTANT stories. The news is NOT for entertainment. Its purpose is to keep the public informed, not titillated.

While it sucks for the people on the show to get sideswiped like that, Montel is still 100% correct.

this reminds me a bit of John Gibson who lashed out at Anderson Cooper for complaining of the over done Anna Nicole coverage by exclaiming "Theres a war on, theres a war on, theres a war on"

He's right, it's all about ratings and the celebrity worshippers here in America. Montel says our troops are defending democracy, sadly THEY AREN'T, they are continuing the profits of corporate america and the defense contractors who reap mass profits from the deaths of 1000's of Americans and hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqi's. BTW, if you think obama is gonna change anything he's not, he might take some troops out of Iraq but he's gonna put some more in a different place. WAKE UP!

just another person, the troops deserve so much more

I think Montell is strange. He should focus on the topic at hand. If they had known Montell would talk about the loss of soldiers and not Heath Ledger, they would probably not have invited him.
