More likely it will have the fate of the ancient Greek and Egyptian religions: it will fade where it belongs and will be named with its proper name, mythology. And treated as Greek and Egyptian mythologies are treated: a collection of stories--some nice, some gruesome--, and ridiculous ceremonies and habits.

my take on the Origin of religion....:

out of their fear of death.. early man devised a myth that would allow them to live forever. it wasn't the myth of god, it was the myth of THE SOUL. THe idea that when you die, the "soul" lives on. A comforting thought. The idea of the soul later evolved into the myth of God, God and religion started out as an explanation or backstory to the soul.

Then later evolved into a tool for governments to control their citizens.

"Religion was the discourse that we had when all causes in the universe were opaque".

NNNGH! He is a ninja sentence smith!

The poet of rationality!

Yes I agree!

Harris is so concise that even Dawkins and Hitchens won't paraphrase his thoughts.

Religion & Scientology are like the fairy tales Mother Goose & Jack and the Bean stalk: Written to help the frightened little monkey's sleep at night

The belief in one fairy tale over another is completely arbitrary - And depends on which frightening story you heard as a child

In reality, people are simply afraid of the responsibility associated with having an "internal locus of control" - Thus, they invent saviors to hide behind when it gets dark out at night

Because its NOT in the Quran, mybe on an islamic website. In the time of the Quran it was written based on numerology not math. numerology is simular to astrology ie: a pseudo-science for lack of a better word.

How can you honestly say that a book written well over a thousand years ago is even remotely simular/equal to a high-school physics book, nevermind a popular science book like "A brief history of time"

Bye then.

na man it is in the Quran, but God said in the Quran that he wants us to increase our knowledge and seek always for answers.

exactly how can somebody know 1400 years ago about the origin of the universe, the big bang, the stages of embryology ,that EVERYTHING is made out of pairs, that EVERYTHING is made out of water(everything in this world has 80% of water as i have read in a scientific non Islamic website),that planets orbit, than moon has a reflected light and not of his own e.t.c.

bye mate

Weird I always thought that the Sun and its planets spun around their center of mass. But I guess Newtonian physics would be required to understand that. Everything is 80% water? The moon doesn't shine by itself? This is breaking news. Who wrote this Quran?
