thank you.. help ful. I used to crop a segment and then vhoose video -> direct stream copy + F7. Then i would join the videos on camtasia timeline and that would blow things up even if i kept it .avi all the time. But this sertainly helped me. THANKS

Aww man, I thought this video was about cropping out things from a video and then adding the stuff cropped from the video overlaying another one. Like adding a Chroma-keyed video.

I'm sorry. I believe this can be done in VirtualDub but as you may already know there are a lot of Chromakey tutorials out there for the more popular (nonfree) video editors. I love free software but if I ever get into movie making I'm going to get myself a Mac.

Thanks for the info, but I found out how to do camera shakes, chroma key, and cropping out things when I played around with 'WAX' another cool free video editor.

Been using Virtual dub for years but could not figure out how to join files (I wanted to join 5 copies of the same video together (dont ask) ) I watched your video and realized how easy it is. Thanks. Gonna watch all the tutorials to see what else Im missing .. Loneranger

You're very welcome. A lot of open source projects have a lot of poor development and so people optimize their usage by learning tricks that people like me just stumbled upon by luck.
