Transcoding from OGG into MP4 using VLC Media Player

This is a tutorial on how to transform OGG video files into MP4 using VLC Media Player. MP4 is an excellent format that is readily uploadable to Youtube. So, for all those people that have something to show from recordmydesktop, now you have a way to transcode into a high quality format.

Oh, just one thing. I noticed tonight that the encoding only works if i have recorded at full-screen. Is it the same for you? If i try to convert something that was recorded not at full screen VLC crashes!

This was excellent thanks! And just in time too. I recorded a video on Debian with Session Recorder last night, it became an ogg and i was wondering why youtube didn't like it.

I followed along with your tutorial and it worked perfectly. I don't think i have the gstreamer that you mentioned, so quite possibly it does work without.
